If I ever won a lottery, I hope it would not be a small amount. I was just reading the listing of a home in Austin, Texas. They offered this beautiful vacation home on 13 acres of land for 27 days at $58,000. This made me wonder how much would be needed to buy it out entirely, and yes, that is the amount I am tempted to pray for right now. Of course, it was not in my intense desires list merely a day ago.
I wanted to buy a home at much lower cost in Ooty, which is a hill station out here, in India. I presume if I win the lottery, I would be able to buy that along with a few acres of tea garden. I would of course need a new car and a complete change in my wardrobe. I would then invite my friends over to spend a few days with me in my new home. It is ridiculously hot where I am right now and they all deserve a break from this oppressive heat.
I also loved playing snookers and billiards when I was young, but could not afford to join any clubs later on. The money from lottery should leave enough for that and a few cans of beer now and then.
My existing home requires a lot of repairs, and in fact, I am working hard at 79 years of age only to cover those expenses. With lottery monies I would be able to meet those expenses.
I don't want to be pretentious by saying I would do charity with the monies. Tax rates are high in my country, and we do not have any social security system either. My daughter does not get any pension, and neither do I. Therefore, we would need to have enough in our banks for managing those tea gardens and our regular expenses I suppose. I can, however, commit to doing some charity annually out of income that would come in our hands, thanks to the lottery.
I also need some medical insurance cover. They are increasing the rates this year since I will touch 80. As of now, we do not have adequate cover for my medical treatment. Lottery money would give me the liberty to purchase more cover. My daughter loves swings, and I could have one in our garden if I get that lottery money. It would give me intense pleasure to do so. In fact, that is one of my ardent desires.
After providing for all these, I would like to travel abroad. I have always wanted to see other countries, especially countries like Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, and Holland. I guess, I will be able to undertake travel to all these places, along with my daughter who did not get to travel much in her life.
It is hard to be cool and collected with the thought of winning a lottery. Desires keep pouring in randomly from all directions. There are so many things that we need, and we have denied ourselves. Periodically, we do keep dreaming of luxuries and hope that they will materialize someday soon, before our health starts deteriorating. Life is tough, but there are people who are not half as well off as we are. Therefore, there is always something to be grateful to god for. But while the thought lasted, it did feel good, and hope some prayers come our way so that we can fulfill at least some of those desires.
I always buy a ticket at the store when I stop for gas or a soda. However, since the laws have changed to allow states to sale lottery tickets online I now play online lottery every week from my house or work.
